Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management

MANAGE, PROTECT, AND SECURE DATA FOR THE HEALTHCARE INDUSTRY

The mission of the Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management (HIM) program is to produce ethical healthcare professionals who are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and dispositions to be successful managers of healthcare data and information. The program focuses on three core areas: health sciences, healthcare administration, and information technology. The program also seeks to enhance life-long learning and prepare students with the advocacy skills to protect patient and consumer rights.

 

THE HIM PROGRAM OFFERS GRADUATES THE ABILITY TO:

• Apply entry-level competencies in health information management (HIM)

• Interpret healthcare policy, accreditation, and legal regulations as it pertains to HIM

• Use critical thinking strategies to structure and translate data into usable forms of information

• Advocate for patient and consumer health privacy and confidentiality
